I know, I know, what does salsa dancing have to do with attraction marketing? I’m glad you asked, and if you didn’t, I’m going to tell you anyways.

If you don’t already know, I go out salsa dancing about 1 or 2 times a week and have the best of time. I even taught classes and did a couple performances, so yes it’s pretty serious.

I had the pleasure of introducing it to some friends and family members, especially when I showed them what I can do on the dance floor.

One of my friends that I introduced it to really took it serious. As a matter of fact, he has won many contests, taught at many places, and performed many of times. He’s also on a salsa/bachata team and done some choreography not only for his team but for other teams as well.

This is all good and gravy, but the year before it wasn’t all that great. As a matter of fact, whenever he would go to the salsa club he wouldn’t even dance most of the time. He would walk into the salsa club with a chip on his shoulder and felt that people there were against him.

If a girl would turn him down he would become bitter about it and not dance the rest of the night. Now this defeats the purpose of going out dancing.

Also the fact that he carried a negative vibe in the club repelled the people that were there to have a good time. Now the question is how did he go from that negative extreme to becoming very popular and successful in the salsa scene?

Here are some quotes I dug up:

“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”

“A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes.”

“A man without a smiling face must not open a shop.”Chinese Proverb

“There is little difference in people but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.” W. Clement Stone

Catch my drift?

We talked about this problem over the phone. I suggested that he make some positive changes in his life if he wanted to get the most out of the salsa scene and this would have to start with the negative mentality. The best way to start is:

Change what you see (TV, Books, Magazines, etc.)
Change what you hear (Music, Radio News, etc..)
Change the inner circle of negative friends

It was a slow process but eventually he slowly started to see positive results. By the next year you can see the big change within him which made him more attractive to others. More people started approaching with different offers from teaching to partnering up for a salsa contest and all because of a change in a mental attitude.

People like to be around positive people and as a network marketer this is a key to draw people towards you. You will find that with a positive attitude and making others feel great about themselves you will start to see positive results for yourself. Applying those three things I mentioned to my friend would result in a turning point in your business.

Remember it’s not about luck, it’s about you creating your luck by changing your mental attitude to start with.

MLM Is About You!!

Do any of you have friends or acquaintances that you haven’t talked to in a long time? Have you ever just thought about them and decided to call them out of the blue? Has anyone that you haven’t talked to in a long time just called you out of the blue? When they do, what do the both of you talk about?

Most people just want to catch up. They want to know where you’re living, how long you’ve been living there, what are you doing for a living, what do you do on the weekends for fun, how’s your family doing, etc…You just want to rebuild that connection with the other person and vice versa.

In network marketing this is basically a follow up. The problem is that most of us pick up the phone, call our prospects and either freeze up or go into a sales pitch.

If you do either of these two, then I would have to point you to “How To Win Friend’s And Influence People” by Dale Carnegie.

Now if you have read this book and you’re still looking for some type of guideline to follow, I found two rapport building tools that I stumbled upon that you can follow.

One is called FORM.

Family

Occupation

Recreation

Message

The most important thing about prospecting is your PROSPECT. You want to talk about the things that your prospect values the most which is usually Family, Occupation, and Recreation. Asking about the prospects family and where they grew up is a great way to start the conversation and spark interest.

Here’s example of one of the ways I start a conversation.

Hi, this is Sherman Smith from Mentoring For Free. We met over facebook the other day. How’s everything? Great!!! I just saw that you’re in Baltimore, MD. Did you grow up there? Do most of your family live in the area?

Once you build rapport the next thing you want to do is deliver the message. A great way to transition to the message is to say something like “The reason I called is because you asked about my opportunity” or “The reason that I called is that I remember you telling me that you were looking for other ways to make money.”

Another great tool to use is CAPI.

Common Ground

Affirm

Permission

Information

Common Ground is FOR (Family, Occupation, Recreation) and trying to find something in common with your prospect.

Next, after listening to your prospect, you want to affirm what they just said. For example, you may say something like “Ok, let me get this straight, you’re looking to make extra money because your job is making you take furlough days?”

Once you affirm what they were just telling you, a really important step is to ask for permission which is a step that a lot of people skip. For example “I have something that you may or may not be interested in. Would you like for me to share it with you?”

Last but not least is to share the information

The most important of these is to build rapport with your prospects by focusing on them to figure out if what you have may be what they’re looking for. This is an essential way to establish business partners or to have paying customers.

What is your favorite blog, better yet, what is your favorite book? What attracted you to it? How did it keep your attention?

Was it because it was a hard back, soft back? Was it because of the cover or the title? Did the first sentence draw draw your attention to what’s going to happen next? Was the content of the book full of exciting visuals, details, and interesting characters?

Depending on what you are interested in is what your going to target whether they are science-fiction or romance novel. The problem is even though you are interested in that genre of novels, not all of them are not going to draw your attention.

But the ones that do are going to stay on your mind and have you tell all of your friends about it. Now that would be one exciting book.

The same thing goes with your blogs. There are some blogs that you will pass on, while there are others that will have you mind boggled. As a matter of fact, a lot of times it would depend on the person that writes it too.. Thats a great thing about branding!!!!

I’ve done a little research on motivation speech styles and found a style that can be applied to blogging. There are five steps to it and here they go:

Attention Getter

If you want people to look at your posts it’s critical that your title be appealing. It
needs to be something that everyone is talking about but yet stands out.

Need (Problem)

Once you get your readers undivided attention you want to introduce the actual need
or problem in the industry.

Example: network marketers that don’t build a relationship fail in the industry or Why
don’t people build an attractive facebook profile.

Satisfaction

These are the tips and strategies use to fix the problem that network marketers can
apply.

Visualization

Once you present the fix you want to describe what will happen after you have
applied it and possibly talk about your experiences with it.

5. Appeal To Action

Last but not least, you want a call for action whether its having your readers opt in to
your site or to share your post to others.

By following these steps will ensure to keep your prospects interested in your content and also have them share it with others.

Now my call to action for you is to share this information by click on the social bookmarking icons in the left margin. Also if you want more information on how you can become more successful in your business then download the free ebook “Success In 10 Steps” by clicking on one of the links below.

BELIEFS!

Do you really believe that you’re going to be successful?

Can you really picture in your head that every month you will be sponsoring 2 or more people?

Can you actually feel the money just coming in 2K, 5K, 10K, 20K a month?

Can you hear yourself motivating others to be as successful as you?

Many of us say that we can do all of these things, but the question is do we really believe it? 9 times out of 10 there is something within our belief system that’s holding us back.

So what is it?

Well I did a little research and found that what you believe in is connected to some type of attitude or emotion towards it. This goes into an opinion which is a verbal manifestation of that attitude, which in turn causes us to act a certain way based on the belief and opinion.

So lets say you built a relationship with someone, and you find out that they are looking for other ways to make money.

You tell them that you may have something for them and you hand them some information about your opportunity.

They turned to you and tell you that they don’t like network marketing because they don’t like to sell. (How many of you heard this excuse?)

Now this is a false belief because you didn’t try to sell them anything. What’s really the case is that they attached their belief to something that happened to them in the past (Most likely a “Network Marketer” that was trying to pitch them without getting to know them) and they held on to that belief.

This is just one of many cases of how we give our beliefs meaning. So how do we change that?

First things first. Beliefs are just individual events in the world that really don’t have any meaning.

So if they don’t have any meaning to begin with why would you give it meaning in the first place?

Did you catch that?

We all heard of rags to riches stories such as Oprah Winfrey, Thomas Edison, Chris Garner, and Joanne Kathleen Rowling author of Harry Potter. So if they can be successful why can’t you?

So if you want to be successful, then take the necessary steps to become successful and work on your belief system. Put your surroundings in check. Be around positive people. Make sure you read and listen to something positive everyday.

There some great books and audio CDs that give great tips on changing your beliefs.

Since I’m a reader, some great books I recommend are “The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind” by Dr. Joseph Murphy, “The Magic Of Believe” by Claude Bristol, and “Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude” By Claude Bristol.

MLM Is About You!!

You’re on facebook and you have over one thousand friends. You get on facebook to do your daily routine and someone sends you an instant message.

They ask you a couple of questions (Usually it’s what company are you with, how much money you make, and how many people are in your downline).

Then all of a sudden, out of no where, they attack you with their opportunity!! Yes attack!! They brag about their company, how long its been in business, how much they “plan” on making, their compensation plan, that your way is wrong, they’re way is the best, etc…

All of this bragging and pitching can be a turn off!! So Why is that? What do you think when people approach you like this? If you’ve been in the business for some time you probably would think they were naive. If you haven’t been in business for a while if at all, you probably think they’re just another selfish salesperson.

So what’s really important when you’re prospecting?

Check out this quote by Lisa Kirk:

“A gossip is one who talks to you about others; a bore is one who talks to you about himself; and a brilliant conversationalist is one who talks to you about yourself”

If you want to be great at prospecting, then focus on being a brilliant conversationalist. Ask questions about the prospect themselves and let them talk. You can ask about their hobbies, where they’re from, if they’re married, what they do for a living, etc.. You get the point.

I listen to a CD by Michael Clouse called “Prospecting 101” and he points out that in conversation people tend to be selfish, which is sad to say. They really don’t care about you, they only really care about themselves.

As a matter of fact they may even compliment you by saying that you’re a great conversationalist even though you only said a couple of words. Kinda ironic huh? But it’s true!!!
In all, don’t brag about your companies, don’t brag about your opportunities, because more than likely the people you’re conversing with really don’t care, especially if they’re not looking for an opportunity at all.

Focus on them personally and you’ll be able to build a great relationship one day. Just from this, they may want to join you in any opportunity that you may offer them in the future.

MLM Is About You!!!

Has this ever happened to you? You’ve known someone, let’s say his name is Bob, for some years now. You’ve probably see him maybe once a week, if that. You get along well with him and possibly seen him at different events.

The last event he brought someone over to meet you. He introduces you to this new person and he asks you what was your name! Wait! Stop! Hold on for a minute. You’ve known this guy for a while and he doesn’t know your name. Why is that? How did that make you feel? Not too important huh?

I know there are a lot of people out there that are really bad with names, but if you’re in business, this is not only a bad habit but it can be detrimental to your business. According to Dale Carnegie in “How To Win Friend’s And Influence People” a person’s name is like the sweetest sound to them.

Now have you ever met people who can remember names so easy as if they knew the person that they met for the first time for years and years? In the last blog post I mentioned the spider web effect and how it can benefit your business because of the network of people that you know. Those people that remember names so well are usually successful in whatever they do because of this.

Some people have really great memories, but others, like myself have to use some strategies to remember names. These strategies have work well for me and I like to share some with you.

1. When I first meet people I like to say their names over and over in a conversation –
Example: Nice to meet you John. So John what do you do for a living? Thats a nice suit John,
where did you get it? How long have you been married John.

2. I still introduce people to each other even if I don’t know their names, that way when they
themselves introduce each other, they can say who they are while I’m there listening.
(I know that’s cheating lol)

3. If I’ve known someone for a while and still don’t know their name, I tell them that we need to
connect and if they can write down their name and number on a piece of paper or I’ll ask
them to type in their name and number on my cell phone. (Still cheating, I know lol)

4. When I meet someone for the first time, I would take a mental note by repeating their names
about 10 times.

In all, people like to feel important and just by remembering their names is the first step to building your spider web for success!!

If you found this information helpful, please share with others that may benefit from this. If you like to find out more about the spider web effect you can download the ebook “Success In 10 Steps” by clicking on the link below.

How many of you have witnessed this? You go to your company’s meeting and they call everyone on stage to get recognized for their hard work and how many people they recruited within the last week. Some people say 1 person, other’s say 2, while some others say 3 people. This is all good, except for that one kid that just graduated from high school and only been with the company for a couple of weeks. He or she gets on the microphone and tells everyone how many people they recruited and it’s some outrageous number like 15 or 20?

Your shocked! Your enraged! You’re Jealous! You tell yourself that they must be lying. You just can’t believe what you just heard. And what makes matters worse is that you go up to meet him or her and you find out that they’re just as dorky and corny as they will ever be. What gives???

They’re just lucky!! But wait, is it just luck or is there something more to it? But you’re leaders keep telling you to always keep it simple, right? So how did this recent high school grad recruit all of these people by just keeping it simple?

Time and time again you will here stories like this and the more we hear about them, the more we wonder how do they do this in such a short amount of time.

In Mike Dlouhy’s “Success In 10 Steps” he mentions something called “The Spider Web Effect”. He says that people who build webs tend to be lucky while people who don’t build webs tend not to be lucky.

What does he mean by this? Well, everyone says that network marketing is about building relationships with people right? Well think of it like this: the more relationships you build, the more contacts you have in your life, the less bridges you burn, the more people that have a positive feeling about you, the more people you reach out to help, the more likely you will be “lucky”.

So in case of the recent high school graduate, he probably been on facebook since he was a freshman in high school, and have been building relationships with different people since then.

Not only can this happened to a high school kid, but it could happened to anyone, especially you!!! You just have to put in the work and make it fun!

If you found this information to be helpful, please share it with others. The more people that you reach out to help the better it is for you in the long run.

You ever heard of those stories about someone that came from humble beginnings and all of a sudden became this big success? If you were to look at how they were and where they came from you would stereotype them as not achieving the success that they now have. Sad isn’t it? But it’s true!!!

So how in the world did they become this really big success?

I’ve done my research and I noticed something that’s very common in every successful person. This one ingredient that they had helped give them the tools to become successful. Once I put it all together, I told myself that I had to get me one of these. I mean, if every successful person had one of these, why don’t I have one as well as anyone I knew at that time?

No, I’m not talking about the latest and greatest tools you can download and install from the internet. Even before the internet was even thought of, successful people had these.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m talking about a Mentor!

Every successful athlete, businessman/woman, TV star, etc… had someone to help guide them to succeed in whatever they did. Think about it, when you see a successful person being interviewed about their life on TV, they always talk about the one person that inspired them whether it be a teacher, parent, or athletic coach.

Mentors are the ones that’s going to inspire you, encourage you, and see you as who you can be. They’re the ones that been through the trials and tribulations and can tell you what to go for and what to avoid.

In network marketing there are a lot of mentoring programs that have people that will coach you to success. A lot of network marketers want a step by step process on how to become successful in their business. Mentoring programs is a great option to get involved with if you’re looking for some type of guidance.

Unfortunately, most network marketers either fail to get a mentor or they simply just do not listen to their own mentors. As a result they fail in their businesses.

The mentoring program that I got involved in has helped me tremendously. My mentor has showed me a more proficient way to market as well as show me what to avoid. Not only is she my mentor, but she also became a very close friend.

If you want more information on the mentorship program I’m involved in, go ahead and click on the link below labeled “Mentoring For Free”.

You know the greatest feeling in the world is the first person that you sponsor into your business. You just want to run outside, jump up, and kick your heels when that happens, especially having going a long time without sponsoring no one. Now your vision is much clearer and you can now imagine people lining up to join you in your business venture.

But wait a minute, the fun isn’t over yet. That next month is even better. Not only did you sponsor just one, but now two people. Oh boy! Now you’re starting to build a team. The following months, all you do is recruit, recruit, recruit. Before you know it, you have a pretty decent size team. Isn’t that great!!!

Lets dig even further, you always send out invites to go to meetings, out-of-town events, and even started a personal development book club. Each and every time you promote these events , meetings, or training call to your whole entire team, you only get the attention of the same 10 people who are gung ho about being successful in their business.

No matter how much energy you put into promoting to all, lets just say 50 people on your team, the same 10 people are the ones who take action. Why is that, and what are you going to do to get the rest into action?

Should you:

Hypnotize them?
Bug them to death?
Threaton them?
Use the 80/20 rule?

Hopefully you picked the last one. If you pick the first three, then you probably need some more personal development.

The 80/20 is also known as Pareto’s Principle. In applying it to your business, it means that the few people in your business (20%) are going to be a great asset to the business while the rest (80%) aren’t going to be beneficial.

So the best thing that you should do is concentrate on the 10 that’s out there putting in work to become success and not put too much energy in the one’s that always come up with excuses to not take the steps to become successful. The reason for this is that not only they will not become successful, but they can also drag you down with them. Not fun at all!!

Hopefully this information was an inspiration to you. Please share if you find that it would be helpful to others. You can click on one of the links in the left margin to share. There are a lot of pluggins and javascripts for wordpress.org blog pages that helps them to look professional and get more exposure to a wider audience. One thing that’s popular are the “Add To” buttons. These buttons lets your readers submit your material to social networks and link directories with ease. The only problem is that those who have a wordpress.com blog page can not take advantage of any pluggins or javascript. So is there a fixed for this? There most certainly is!

For weeks I’ve been doing research on how I could put an “Add To” button for twitter and facebook so that readers can repost my material. I luckily stumbled upon a social bookmarking application called GetSocial. This is a .NET Framework windows app that provides an HTML code for you to add onto your wordpress.com page. Once added, it shows a bar of some of the popular social media and bookmarking sites such as facebook, twitter, and digg.

They have four different styles which are Classic, Mini, Design, Design Mini. Once your audience finishes a post, they can click on one of the links on the bar to repost or bookmark your blog. Just as simple as that!! For those that are on a tight budget, this application is free to download. For most of us, the word “FREE” is our favorite word for now.

I hope this information was of help to all of you. If so, make sure that you click on one of the links on the side to repost this material so that others with a wordpress.com site can take advantage of this free application.
