Has this ever happened to you? You approach someone, build a little rapport, find out what their problem is, expose them and tell them that you’re in network marketing, and they tell you “This is sales and I don’t like selling.”

How many times have you heard something similar to this?

Quite a few huh?

Also you may have exposed someone that’s been in sales and they tell you that they’re tired of doing sales and this opportunity wouldn’t be right for them.

Some people think because they have been in sales that it automatically qualifies them to become successful in network marking.

That’s not always true.

But let me ask you this. Do you know what marketing is, let alone network marketing?

Is there actually a difference?

It most certainly is!!!

It’s surprising but a lot of us involved in this industry do not know this.

As a matter of fact there’s a lot of people that’s been in the industry for over 10 years and still try to “SELL” instead of market.

So what is the difference? Let’s break it down

I’m an IT (Information Technology) guy, and according to the technological viewpoint, networking is a way to connect to workstations and servers in order to exchange information and establish relationships.

According to this industry, it’s a way to connect with people in order to exchange information and establish relationships.

Now for the difference between marketing and selling.

Selling is the act of meeting your customers demands by matching the products and services that you offer. In order to do this a sales person uses the sales concept to persuade or convince the customer to buy.

Marketing, on the other hand, supports the efforts of sales. More listening and two-way communication are involved in marketing. Sometimes they would do surveys in order to figure what customers are looking for and which demographics, cultures, race, etc.. prefer certain products or services.

It includes the following:

1. Figuring out what products or services consumers want
2. Creating a products or services accommodating those wants and needs
3. Pricing those products and services correctly
4. Promoting those products and services, and explaining why the customer should buy
5. The use of “Sales” can be used here at this point, but not in network marketing

So basically marketing is figuring out what your prospect is looking for in order to see what you have matches their wants and needs. If it does then you expose it to them. STOP RIGHT THERE!!! THAT’S MARKETING!!! ANYTHING BEYOND THIS POINT IS SELLING!!

So if you were ever involved in sales and worked for a company, all of the marketing and promotions were already done for you. The marketing portion makes the sales go a lot smoother because the customer already has an idea of what they want when they get to your establishment from all of the advertisements.

MLM Is About You!!

What does success mean to you?

Is it just obtaining that financial goal you dreamed of?

Or maybe it’s getting to a specific level in a particular career, sport, etc…?

Or maybe it’s purchasing that one car you always dreamed of.

The misconception about success is that many people believe it’s only obtaining that end result and that’s not true. It’s way more than that.

I meet and rub elbows with successful people everyday online and offline. As a matter of fact successful people read my blog posts everyday.

Yes, I’m talking about you!! Even further, a lot of successful people comment on my posts and share the information with others.

You see, the one thing I like about team sports is that they work together to obtain a goal. But the key is that they work together.

But how do they get to the point to where they become professionals in their sport and get the opportunity to play with their fellow teammates who are also professionals?

We see all of the glitz, glamour and “Bling Bling” but the one thing we tend to look over is the hard work behind this.

You see people like a Lebron James, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Wayne Gretzsky, and Joe Montana work hard to get where they’re at. But it’s not just about the hard work.

It’s more than that! The one thing that made them who they are and help them attain their status was an effective daily routine. Yes a simple effective daily routine!

A couple of blog posts ago I talk about learning how to play the piano. My teacher gave me some exercises to do in order to become great. Now I know how to play 4 genres of music.

So lets go back to you reading this blog. Is reading blog posts and commenting a daily routine of yours? If so, then that’s success!

It’s not just obtaining your goals. It’s that process which is the effective daily routine that you have in order to obtain your goals.

Once people see how consistent you are, then you will start to become attractive. Our goal in this industry is to become attractive, but we got to put in the effective daily routine in order to attain it.

So what is your daily routine? What are you doing to attract the right prospects to you? What are you giving on a daily basis that’s of value in order to attract?

Here’s some of the things I do on a daily/weekly basis!

1. Share valuable quotes on a daily basic
2. Commment on blogs on a daily basic
3. Put out valuable content on my blogs every week
4. Read about new marketing tools every week
5. Share other people’s valuable content every day

If you don’t have an effective daily routine then these are some of things you can do in order for your to attract people to your business. Keep doing these things and you’ll see the difference in your business!!

SUCCESS

In June of 2006 I ran into my co worker’s husband at my job. We started talking and I found out that he taught piano to elementary school kids and for as long as I could remember I always have wanted to learn. We exchange numbers and by the next month I was learning under him.

I was so excited and wanted to learn all of these different songs and was hoping to become a “professional” within a short amount of time. He told me to do these series of exercises on a daily basis.

For those that understand music, he told me to practice my major and minor scales, blues scales, circle of fifths exercises, chromatics, arpeggios, and a couple of practice riffs everyday for at least 30 minutes. And as you know this can become quite tedious and boring.

Now at first I was really excited because everything was so new to me, but after doing it for months and months, I didn’t really see the point of it. It had gotten real boring and I felt like I was not going anywhere.

By November of that same year, I wanted to learn how to play Vince Guaraldi’s “Linus and Lucy” from the Charlie Brown cartoons. For those who don’t play the piano you have to train your left hand to play one rhythm and your right hand to play a different rhythm. The notes and rhythm in this piece are syncopated which can be a really big challenge and at the same time you have to keep both hands in sync with each other.

I practice just the first part of this piece for about a month and finally got it down. It felt like all blood, sweat, and tears but I finally got it!!!

Since I work in a school district I would practice in the high school choir room. Sometimes the choir teacher would walk in to listen, and he would give me some tips. After he heard me play the first part of Linus and Lucy he gave me a lot of compliments and told me that he could never play Linus and Lucy because of it’s syncopation even though he’s been playing piano for over 40 years.

This was a great shock to me but yet motivational. I figured since he plays piano very, very well, especially in the classics, he would know how to play this song quite well. But like they say, to each his/her own.

Now I can play a variety of genres such as jazz, salsa, blues, R&B and I really thank my piano teacher for telling me to do those simple exercises to get to the point I am today.

This post wasn’t to impress you but to impress upon you on what it takes to become successful. It’s your daily steps and your daily routine that you have to take in order to reach your goals.

Perseverance is the key that’s going to take you up that yellow brick road to success. So keep putting out those positive quotes, keep writing in your blogs, keep calling your prospects, keep meeting people online and offline, just keep doing what you have to do and at the same time for your motivation keep your eyes on the prize!!!!

MLM Is About You!!

How many of you have witnessed this? You go to your company’s meeting and they call everyone on stage to get recognized for their hard work and how many people they recruited within the last week. Some people say 1 person, other’s say 2, while some others say 3 people. This is all good, except for that one kid that just graduated from high school and only been with the company for a couple of weeks. He or she gets on the microphone and tells everyone how many people they recruited and it’s some outrageous number like 15 or 20?

Your shocked! Your enraged! You’re Jealous! You tell yourself that they must be lying. You just can’t believe what you just heard. And what makes matters worse is that you go up to meet him or her and you find out that they’re just as dorky and corny as they will ever be. What gives???

They’re just lucky!! But wait, is it just luck or is there something more to it? But you’re leaders keep telling you to always keep it simple, right? So how did this recent high school grad recruit all of these people by just keeping it simple?

Time and time again you will here stories like this and the more we hear about them, the more we wonder how do they do this in such a short amount of time.

In Mike Dlouhy’s “Success In 10 Steps” he mentions something called “The Spider Web Effect”. He says that people who build webs tend to be lucky while people who don’t build webs tend not to be lucky.

What does he mean by this? Well, everyone says that network marketing is about building relationships with people right? Well think of it like this: the more relationships you build, the more contacts you have in your life, the less bridges you burn, the more people that have a positive feeling about you, the more people you reach out to help, the more likely you will be “lucky”.

So in case of the recent high school graduate, he probably been on facebook since he was a freshman in high school, and have been building relationships with different people since then.

Not only can this happened to a high school kid, but it could happened to anyone, especially you!!! You just have to put in the work and make it fun!
