These are all great tools right? But why is it that so many people that have these tools still aren’t finding success in their business?
These are legit tools to use for your business. As a matter of fact some people have found a lot of success using these tools. But the problem is that it’s a minority of people.
So what are the majority of people that have these tools are doing wrong? If these leads are suppose help attract people then why aren’t a lot of network marketers having a lot of success?
Back in the 90’s there use to be this commercial for basketball shoes (I believe it was Nike). They had this famous slogan “It’s all about the shoes”. Just from this, a lot of people would go buy basketball shoes, get to the basketball court and “trust” that their shoes will make them a great basketball player.
Now I’m not the greatest basketball player, and I shouldn’t be judging, but a lot of people who bought into the slogan and bought the shoes sucked at basketball.
Why did they suck?
Because they didn’t practice to develop themselves into a great basketball player. In order for you to be great in something it takes practice and dedication. You have to work on yourself to become great and no pair of basketball shoes isn’t going to do it.
This goes back to the title of this post. A must have tool to attract lead is YOU!! You gotta develop yourself into something attractive in order to attract leads.
How do you do that?
Through personal development books and audios, sharing valuable information with others, visualization, PMA (Positive Mental Attitude), autosuggestion, and a positive belief system.
Here’s some books and audios that I suggest:
– The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy
– Success through a Positive Mental Attitude by Napolean Hill
– The Magic Of Believing by Claude Bristol
– Building A Better Life by Michael S. Clouse
– Awakening The Giant Within by Anthony Robbins
– The Greatest Salesman In The World Og Mandino
Here’s a great Napolean Hill quote that I got from Ilka Flood in her post Are You Sabotaging Your Own Network Marketing Success which is a great post about the same subject.
“The subconscious mind makes no distinction between constructive and destructive thought impulses. It works with the material we feed it, through our thought impulses. The subconscious mind will translate into reality a thought driven by fear just as readily as it will translate into reality a thought driven by courage or faith.
…If you fill your mind with fear, doubt and unbelief in your ability to connect with and use the forces of Infinite Intelligence, the law of autosuggestion will take this spirit of unbelief and use it as a pattern by which your subconscious mind will translate it into its physical equivalent.“

If you’re looking to take your business to the next level or are looking to start a home business, the best thing to do is to educate yourself. The problem is most people like to jump into an opportunity without being educated on the business or their compensation plan. This can result in years and years of frustration and failure. If you’re having problems growing your business and you are a serious entrepreneur then I can help you.

Hi Sherman,
You are right, personal development and network marketing are a combination that will lead to success, maybe we can call it ” Developmental Networking”. When you develop yourself ,you develop you network as well.
I want to share these words with you :
“Until one is committed
There is hesitancy, the chance to draw back
Always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative (and Creation)
There is one elementary truth
The ignorance which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
That the moment that one definitely commits ones self
Then Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one
That would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision
Raising in one’s favor all manner
Of unforeseen incidents and meetings
And material substance
Which no one could have dreamed
Would has come his way.
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”
Goethe
Have a magical day!

Wow Sherman, great post.
I use to be a tool junkie! I wanted to know what the best tool were that would help me make the money. Funny thing was, there was no “magical” tool.
Don’t get me wrong tools have their place in your business, but if you think they are going to solve all your problems you’re going to be disappointed.
When I figured out that the tool I needed was ME and I sharpened myself through personal development, things really started to take off and start exploding in my business.
So, sharpen your most important tool, yourself, if you really want your business to succeed.
Thanks again for the great post Sherman!

Hey Michael, you know what? A lot of people get sucked into the idea of that one magic tools that’s going to produce millions of dollars for you. But the fact of the matter is, if you don’t don’t commit to personal development, chances are you’re not going to be success whether you talk to your prospects or let the tool do the work. Anyone can get frustrated and give up in this industry, but through that is when you need to kick in the personal development. Thanks for your comment!!!

Hi Sherman,
Thanks for sharing that quote! Isn’t that a powerful statement? Love your suggested reading as well. We’ve got to develop ourselves first.
Keep up the great work!

That was so awesome. That quote was really cool. I am so amazed about how powerful our minds are! That’s why our mom’s always told us to choose our friends wisely because not only do the things we read and watch effect us, but the people we surround ourselves with. Thanks for that post.

Hi Sherman,
We have a saying here in the UK, “A good workman never blames his tools”. Tools are there to support and help us in aour tasks. It’s what we do as indviduales and how we train ourselves thats the key to success.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful post and have a great day.

I have listening to some great cd’s and one principle talked about is the training balance scale.
This is a measurement of how much emphasis you put on the how or in this case the tools vs. attaining the right mindset.
I have come to the conclusion that mindset is 99% of it that leaves the tools at 1% but it still takes that 1 to make 100.
Here’s to thinking your way to the top,

Hey Steve,
If people can understand that at least and apply it, there will be more successful people in this industry as well as others. You can have the greatest tools in the world, but if you do have THE mindset which include tenacity, integrity, perseverance, consistency, persistency, etc.. then those tools will render you useless. Thanks for your comment Steve. I really appreciate it!!!

Sherman,
I thought this post was one of your best and the analogy of the Nike’s was so appropriate so I posted in all the sites on Onlywire.
If people would only realize the power they have within themselves, to look and see what they want instead of concentrating on what they don’t want, dreams would be realized more easily.
July 30, 2010 at 2:47 pm
Sherman Smith
That’s exactly it Jacqueline! I remember that from “The Secret”. People tend to blind themselves from great opportunities because they have a negative mindset. Concentrating on the negativity of everything you see will get you no where. Thanks for your comment and sharing this post on Onlywire!!

Excellent post Sherman!
The tool that needs to be sharpest is ourselves. It is the combination of ourselves with the other tools that creates success not the other tools on their own.

definitely Marcus! We are our greatest tools in this industry. Once we combine ourselves with the convenience of the other tools I mentioned then the sky is our limit. Thanks for your comment!!

Hello Sherman
I always enjoy your posts.
If someone learns some skills and develop a success mindset it will be an investment that keeps on giving 🙂
The problem is that some people do not want to make that investment.
July 30, 2010 at 4:58 pm
Sherman Smith
Thanks for the compliment Peter! Yea most people do not want to invest to learn skills to develop a success mindset. Without that type of mindset you’re going to be idling until you make that change. Thanks for your comment!!

Great post Sherman and powerful quote. It simply can not be said enough that “YOU” are the determining factor in your business. Your mindset is the foundation and we all know what happens to a building when the foundation isn’t steady.

Hey Sherman,
A great and timely message. I can remember the Nike ad too – good marketing, sold a lot of shoes, but didn’t create basketball stars overnight did it?
It’s very tempting to go buy something thinking it will give you all the answers and that’s where many people get even more frustrated. The answers lie within oneself.
Great post,
Wayne

I like this post Sherman,
It’s true that we manifest what we think about the most so we might as well focus on success.
No tool in the world is going to do the work without us. When it boils down to it, it is US who must be willing to put in the work to get results. Tools and systems allow us to leverage what we are doing. If a person is putting in a lot of work, the tools reflect that. If they are doing nothing, the tolls reflect that also.
Great post,

Thanks Fred…. unsuccessful people put too much faith in tools. Tools are a really great convenience for us to market, but the most important tool is US like you said. I have a bicycle that i haven’t ridden in 15 years, although I hate to admit it lol. But if I want to get into biker shape then I have to get it out of the garage and put it to work. Thanks Fred for your comment!!

Hey Sherman,
Another great post! No tool will mean and do anything for your business if you haven’t got a positive mindset.
Success starts in your head! And personal development is an ongoing process, you have to feed your brain with the right “food” in order to succeed.
Thanks for sharing this.
All the best,
